In short: A roller rake is a frame with a rotating roller underneath that helps spread soil, sand or other screening material evenly, while sieving out larger stones and debris at the same time. It speeds up landscaping and finishing work, since levelling and cleaning the ground happen together.
What is a roller rake and how does it work?
The rake mounts on the skid steer's boom. A hydraulically driven roller beneath the rake moves material back and forth, spreading it out while separating finer soil from larger stones and root pieces, which stay on top of the rake.
- Levels and screens at once: one tool for two jobs, which saves time.
- More even end result: well suited to preparing a lawn base or a finishing surface for landscaping.
- Reduces manual work: picking stones and debris by hand is largely eliminated.
See the range on our skid steer roller rakes page.
Who is this attachment suited for?
- Landscaping companies: preparing lawns, flower beds and planting areas.
- Post-construction finishing: levelling and tidying a plot's soil before landscaping.
- Small road and site builders: spreading an even layer of crushed stone or sand.
What should you think about before buying?
- Hydraulic requirement: running the roller needs auxiliary hydraulics on the machine - check it's available.
- Rake width: a wider rake covers more ground at once but needs more power from the machine.
- Mount compatibility: the roller rake must fit the machine's quick-attach, see our loader mounts.
- Material type: very stony or root-filled ground wears the rake out faster than clean sand or soil.
