Container Hook for a Skid Steer - Emptying Waste Containers

A container hook lets you lift and empty large waste containers with a skid steer without manual handling. We look at how this attachment works.

Container hook for a skid steer

In short: A container hook is a frame that mounts on the skid steer's boom, used to latch onto the upper edge or lug of a waste container so it can be lifted and tipped to empty its contents. This lets large wheeled containers be emptied or moved without manual lifting.

What is a container hook and when do you need one?

A container hook suits large enclosed waste storage facilities, manufacturing plants and farms that use larger wheeled waste containers. The hook latches onto the container's edge or handle, and the loader lifts and tips the container so the material empties, for example into a compactor, a truck or a compost store.

  • Saves manual lifting: workers don't need to move large, heavy containers themselves.
  • Faster handling: emptying several containers goes quickly once the hook is on a quick-attach.
  • Safer: avoids back and arm injuries caused by repeatedly lifting heavy containers.

See the range on our skid steer container hooks page.

Who is this attachment suited for?

  • Manufacturing and warehouse businesses: that generate large amounts of packaging or production waste in big containers.
  • Farms and agricultural operations: for handling manure and waste containers.
  • Waste management companies: for emptying and positioning containers at a storage site.

What should you pay attention to when buying?

  • Container type and edge shape: the hook must match the specific container type's grip points.
  • Load capacity: the hook must withstand the container's full weight, including its contents.
  • Mount compatibility: check that the hook fits the machine's quick-attach, see our loader mounts.
  • Machine lift capacity and boom reach: a large container tipped high requires stability and sufficient lift force from the machine.
